  18. Here is my predicament.  Upon recieving the press release
  19. regarding the new cross platform LW, I printed a copy and sent
  20. it on to my boss in hopes of fitting it into next years budget.
  21. To my suprise he told me to go ahead and order the biggest,
  22. baddest PC available on our government contract and get the
  23. software out on bid.  The computer was easy, the biggest baddest
  24. under contract is a HP Vectra 486/66dx2. I called the only local
  25. vendor for Newtek stuff (Consolidated Media Systems, CMS) which
  26. is a not a store but a vendor of high end video equipement. They
  27. knew nothing about the new LW pc. So I called Newtek, and after
  28. 30 minutes on hold, I spoke with a notably PERKY young lady who
  29. knew absolutly nothing beyond the press release. I was promised
  30. a call from a Supervisor within the hour and went about my merry
  31. way.  That was 5 days ago with no response from Newtek. We
  32. currently operate 3 toasters in a perpetual state of rendering
  33. and it would be really nice to be able to use the PC version for
  34. modeling in my office while all the others are number crunching.
  35.  If someone could help me by answering a few Dumb questions so I
  36. can write this bid for the software before someone changes their
  37. mind it would be most appreciated.

  39. Dumb question #1  Will there be windows a version of LW3.5
  40. released before 4.0. If so when and how much? (It is much easier
  41. to by a less expensive version and upgrade later in the
  42. government TV business.)

  44. Dumb question #2  When can we realistically expect version 4.0
  45. for windows to be available? (or 3.5 if it ever exists)

  47. Dumb question #3  Will it require any specific hardware in the
  48. PC (minimum amount of ram, Screen resolutions etc.)?

  50. Dumb question #4  without the toasters video output how would
  51. one see rendered frames at "real" resolutions. Does this $1000
  52. dollar software come with a display board? If not, what board
  53. would it use and how much would it cost?

  55. Dumb question #5  Will there be any provision someone currently
  56. running the amiga version of LW 3.2 with a toaster to upgrade
  57. (saving money) to a standalone PC version.
